Musical Chairs is an Ensemble of private music instructors who have come together under a common goal:
To create a superior musical learning environment which fosters
a love for music, provides an outlet for creative expression and builds self-confidence.
Musical Chairs provides a constructive and encouraging environment. We have observed that teachers often make music too rigid and are inflexible with their styles. Through our varied experiences, we have collaborated to create what we believe are best practices in musical instruction. We recognize that every student is different and we strive to mold with you - tailoring our approach to meet the goals of our students and challenge them at their own pace and level.
We offer several studio spaces in the Lincoln Square area. We currently teach private lessons in piano, voice, guitar and drums. We focus on the classic fundamentals of theory and instrument technique choosing a progression of repertoire that is both beneficial and enjoyable for the student. Our general approach is very positive with an overarching goal of inspiring people to love music - not dread it!
Children: We will take children beginning in first grade through our dynamic curriculum. Lessons for kindergarten aged children are available based on "readiness." Students have the option to participate in regular group recitals to sharpen performance skills and build their confidence in front of an audience.
Adults: Perhaps you want lessons as recreational activity or you learned as a child and want a "refresher". Maybe you want to provide more help for your children when they are practicing. Whatever your reason, we will design lessons to meet your skill level and goals. Adult students will have the opportunity to participate in occasional group master classes (complete with wine and cheese!) to share their progress with fellow students in a relaxed environment.
